A Divine Tribute: MP Vikram Sahney Launches a Soul-Stirring Homage to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on 350th Martyrdom Anniversary
In a heartfelt ode to the eternal spirit of sacrifice and faith, Padma Shri Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), launched a deeply moving Homage sung by him in tribute to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, on the sacred occasion of the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of the ninth Guru.
The Shabad, “Jag te koi na saani disda Srishti di chadar da,
dena hind ni de sakda Guru Tegh Bahadur da”
served as a musical expression of gratitude and remembrance for the Srishti di Chadar, whose supreme sacrifice remains unparalleled in history. Through this soulful rendition, Dr. Sahney evoked the timeless message of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s courage, compassion, and devotion to truth.
The composition, enriched with narration and emotive verses, traced the Guru’s sacred journey fir his sacrifice for freedom of practising one’s own religion — from his stand against Aurangzeb’s tyranny and forced conversions, to his resolve to protect the Kashmiri Pandits, and ultimately to his martyrdom at Chandni Chowk, where righteousness triumphed over oppression.
“Sidaq da suraj chareya, paap di raat hai aai;
Chandani Chowk ch torey garur rajey nadar da;
Dena hind ni de sakda Guru Tegh Bahadur da.”
These verses reminded the congregation that when the sword rose against the Guru, it was not a life that ended, but an era of darkness that dissolved into divine light.
Through this devotional creation, Dr. Sahney paid homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s immortal message — that faith must never bow before fear, and that the light of truth always triumphs over tyranny.
